 The November 15 American Historical Ephemera and Photography Auction features over 300 lots of important photography, manuscript material, imprints, flags, and other ephemera dating from the 18th through 20th century, including the Civil War. The auction is highlighted by an archive of 237 letters written by Corporal Edwin J. Barden, 7th Regiment Connecticut Infantry, combat soldier and later clerk at Headquarters Department of the South, Headquarters X Corps, and Headquarters US Army, Office of Chief Commissary; Vietnam War-era papers of Pulitzer Prize-winning combat journalist Tracy A. Wood, including documents related to the 1973 release of American POWs in Hanoi; a previously unknown stereodaguerreotype of Millard Fillmore taken by E. Jacobs in New Orleans, Louisiana, ca 1854; and the 1863 album entitled Yo-semite Valley: Photographic Views of the Falls and Valley of Yo-semite in Mariposa County, California, containing 63 photographs taken by Carleton Watkins.

Collections in the auction include: The Civil War Collection of Dennis C. Schurr, featuring a large assortment of magic lantern slides documenting battle scenes and camp life as well as military and political figures of the period; the Richard B. Cohen Civil War Collection, which includes the fourth installment of Brown Water Navy photographs and a selection of autographs and manuscripts from D.G. Farragut, David Dixon Porter, U.S. Grant, and Gideon Welles; additional offerings from the Eugene R. Groves Collection of 19th Century Photography; the Collection of Tom Charles Huston; and the Westerville History Center and Museum in Ohio.
